Product safety is everyone’s concern and covers a wide area. It is therefore no surprise that a great number of European Directives are aimed at safety.

Low Voltage Directive (LVD)When applicable?
The Low Voltage Directive is applicable for products with a nominal AC Voltage between 50 Volt and 1000 Volt or DC Voltage respectively 75 Volt and 1500 Volt. It is not right to assume the Low Voltage Directive is only aiming at electrical safety. Although its name is maybe misleading, the Low Voltage Directive covers also mechanical and temperature safety.
The Machine Directive is applicable to all products that contain one or more moving parts with an intrinsic function.
